quotes Hey Fraser, do you have Image Stabilization on or off to pull off those panning shots? (You had some great panning shots from Worlds!)

quotes I thought if Kiwis had and idea, they just went out and made it? Like carbon framed gearbox bikes - aye, no problem mate, give me a few months! Who needs Pinkbike?

quotes Got the winter blues WAKI? Why so negative? In my experience, engineers out there have moved the sport forward significantly with innovation and refinement. It's the marketing departments that produce the "bllsht". This is a great opportunity using some awesome motivation in terms of prizes for young engineering minds to think up and express their ideas. (And chances are guys, if you can't be bothered to read the contest rules and understand the concept, then this contest is not for you.) There are some very cool guys from industry doing the judging - who wouldn't want to be involved with these guys and have them look over your ideas? I didn't watch all the patent videos, but from the sounds of what has been posted before, any ideas will be protected, so I don't think the motivation behind this is to rape everyone of their ideas. But I'm sure they are hoping for some new, innovative ideas to emerge that maybe no one has yet thought of - and certainly credit will be given where credit is due. I think it's great that Pinkbike and the sponsors like Intense and Straightline are putting online media to good use like this! Anything that inspires innovation in the areas of engineering and science is good in my book!

quotes FYI, read the rules and this contest is open to students only: "15 years of age or older and enrolled and attending, as a full-time student at any accredited school college or university in the United States or Canada." Guess I'm out! That's OK - I wish the best of luck to all those aspiring creative engineering minds out there!

quotes Indeed. This article is psuedo-science... I wonder if RC contacted any actual tire engineers when he wrote this? Because certainly they would talk about things like bead seating, bead compression, bead shape vs. rim shape, etc. Can't argue with his conclusions though. Wider is better, but there is a lot more to the story when you get into the actual engineering involved.

quotes Checked out the Reality Redesigned website and no info there. Also, is this open to all ages, or just "students"? And what form are the submissions? Videos, sketches, presentations, 2D CAD, 3D CAD?

quotes @lenmerderdenfer, I am having a good laugh reading your comments, but you must admit, you are the pot calling the kettle black. Comprenez-vous?

quotes Good question, but as a sponsored rider I don't think he can answer it honestly. Not that he's not an honest guy, but as a sponsored rider you have to dodge certain questions. He can only talk in positives!
